We are genuinely interested in all the people we meet around the world. Thanks to our loyal customers, we don’t need expensive ad campaigns. And as an independent foundation-owned company, we don’t have to pay dividends. Instead, we are free to invest in global raw materials partnerships, providing interest-free loans and enabling local farmers to pay fair wages.
Sustainable partnerships around the world.
Many of the plants we use in our formulations grow in our company’s own biodynamic herb garden or in the fields of our Demeter-certified biodynamic farm, the Sonnenhof. We purchase many other raw materials regionally. But certain raw materials are from plant species that do not thrive in our climate. One example is the macadamia nut, which we buy in organic quality from Kenya.
Valuable collaborations: what makes our partnerships special.
- Initiating organic growing projects.
We prefer to use ingredients from organic or biodynamic quality for our products wherever possible. If these are not available on the world market in the desired quality, we will initiate specific cultivation projects to obtain high quality organic and biodynamic ingredients.
- Long-term perspective.
We don’t believe in short-term contracts. We enjoy a solid and long-term working relationship with many farming partners. Our shea butter partnership, for example, has been in place for 20 years. Binding, long-term commitments provide security for both our growing partners and us in planning and further development.
- Better social conditions.
For us, fair trade relations are a matter of course. Our understanding of fair trade partnerships includes facilitating and promoting good local working conditions as well as providing the necessary support, for example in the form of low interest equipment loans.
- Financial independence.
We always want our partners to achieve economic stability so they are not fully dependent on us. Therefore we help our partners sell their goods not just to us, but globally. We support their further development by providing advisers free of charge, who share our expertise for example, on agricultural issues, sustainable production processes and quality management.

Organic avocados from our partner LIMBUA are good for the skin and better for the world. They grow in Kenya under ideal climatic conditions, cultivated traditionally with no additional irrigation.

For Dr. Hauschka Skin Care products, we use rose extracts that have been prepared in several different ways: essential rose oil, rose water, rose wax, oil extracts from dried rose petals, aqueous, rhythmitised extracts from fresh rose petals and extracts of wild rose fruits (rose hips).
