Meet Our Employees

We spoke to two Dr. Hauschka employees and asked them to share some of their thoughts about working here. We hope you find their thoughts both educational and inspiring—we certainly did!

Nicole Ktenas – Sales Channel Director, Specialty Channel

How long have your worked for Dr. Hauschka Skin Care?
I joined DHSC's team in October 2013 as the Central Regional Sales Manager based in Chicago, Illinois.

Do you have a favorite product? (Or two if that is too hard to answer!)
There are many wonderful Dr. Hauschka products, but Rose Day Cream Light is probably the most versatile.

Please briefly describe your role.
As Director of Sales - Specialty Channel, I am primarily responsible for overseeing our sales performance nationwide in beauty boutiques, spas, prestigious retailers, ecommerce sites and distributors, including Mexico.

Can you describe a project you are currently working on?
I am currently working on a program to increase consumer trial for our top-selling products in the marketplace.

What do you love most about your job?
The travel. I relish the opportunity to connect with many notable professionals and benevolent consumers in the Natural Beauty industry.

What do you love most about working here?
The people. I enjoy working with a talented group of remarkable individuals who believe in the nurturing, nourishing power of our products. Also, as a licensed esthetician, I am proud to represent a phenomenal product. Dr. Hauschka Skin Care is and has been unrivaled in the natural skin care industry for almost fifty years.

What do you think makes Dr. Hauschka Skin Care unique as an employer?
Truly it is the people I get to work with and the remarkable products we sell.

Is there anything else you would like to add about working at DHSC?
Dr. Hauschka Skin Care provided me with the opportunity to develop a relationship with the WALA team from Germany [the manufacturer of Dr. Hauschka Skin Care].  First, I had the chance to bring them on a tour of some of our accounts so they could see the differences between our markets and theirs.  I then had the amazing opportunity of visiting WALA and seeing first hand where and how the ingredients are grown and manufactured.  This experience has enhanced my role with the company by providing me with a global perspective, invaluable experience, and the proficiency in sustainability practices, fair trade initiatives and formulating natural beauty products with the most effective organic ingredients through state of the art methods.

Where is your home office located?
I work out of Chicago, Illinois.

How has the company made efforts to keep you connected to the home office?
Despite working remotely, my efforts are closely coordinated with those of Dr. Hauschka’s home office support staff and those of my counterparts who also work remotely.  Dr. Hauschka Skin Care has worked to improve our technology over the last several years to allow me to connect to coworkers via the web and conference.  Regular in-person meetings at the home office and at events across the country ensure that I work closely with our team as well.

Aaron Foster – Facilities Coordinator

How long have your worked for Dr. Hauschka Skin Care?
18 years!  I was worried about getting a job at a “cosmetics” company, not only because it was cosmetics but also because at the time I had long hair.  I soon discovered that Dr. H is a very open and accepting company to work for.

Do you have a favorite product? (Or two if that is too hard to answer!)
Facial Toner and Revitalizing Day Cream.  They are both great on the face after a shower and especially after I shave.

Please briefly describe your role.
I am the Facility Coordinator.  That means I get paid to be a jack of all trades - something that I do anyway.  I am in charge of Maintenance.  I try to keep everything working and everyone’s office comfortable.  I also work at making our facilities as sustainable as possible.  Along with working in shipping, I also receive and stock most of the products in the warehouse.

Can you describe a project you are currently working on?
I am preparing to provide training for all employees to review our procedures, roles and responsibilities in the event of any type of emergency.

What do you love most about your job?
Trust and respect.  I thrive in an environment where I am given tasks and then trusted to do my job.  Also I think everyone deserves respect in the workplace.  We respect one another by expecting excellent work, but also we respect one another by being constructive in our criticism of each other.

What do you love most about working here?
My coworkers.  My coworkers are not only fun to work with but they are excellent at their jobs.  And a close second is a flexible schedule.  I have a family and a life and Dr. Hauschka Skin Care has always supported a work-life balance.

What do you think makes Dr. Hauschka Skin Care unique as an employer?
I have been with the company for so long and have formed such deep friendships that it feels like a family to me.  I appreciate that it is a place where you are given the freedom to approach your work in a personal way and given the space to make mistakes and learn from them.

Is there anything else you would like to add about working at Dr. Hauschka Skin Care?
I think we are extremely lucky to be located in a sweet spot in the northeast United States.  Beautiful nature, progressive thinkers and a lot of diverse culture.  It really is a special part of the country.

Can you tell us a little something about yourself outside of work?
I live in a small hill town in western Massachusetts.  I built a house in the country, where I live with my wife and son. My life outside of work isn’t that different from the things I do at work. I enjoy working on projects. I am a trained artist, so in addition to building structures from reclaimed materials and gardening, I make my own clothes and create my own materials—from tanning leather to carving buttons from wood and bone.  There is never a dull moment!
